And another one…
And another one…
SO, during design, like the first darned step- I encountered a proble: Pixelated photos…
Misleading title, I know. This isn’t about bros but fonts!
So every good print has appropriate font, problem is, there are tons of them! Literally Millions.
Just some info I forgot to mention:
Matte paper reduces glare, allowing for more legibility- can make magazine more ‘accessible’ for more people. also creates sophisticated feel.
Uncoated can be ‘environmentally friendly’ which can be a selling pint, but is more vulnerable to grease and such.
Glossy creates luxury but glare can be difficult to read, limiting audience and some peopel do not enjoy the feel of it. But! it creates more vibrant photos.
Most thick- feeling indie magazines are around 140gsm to 170gsm on the inside. Thicker feel cretaes ‘quality.’
Ok, so after all that sizing and color contemplation stuff, I realized that I also needed to decide on the type of paper I needed to use. and of course, that’s not simple either. There’s the choice of thickness, and finish. and the magazines I researched all came in different styles. In all styles, actually, which is the problem as it makes choosing so much harder. bloody hell.
After reading and looking at the various magazines, I started taking note of any patterns or trends.
Above, you can a small handful of the magazines I checked out as well as the common colors they’ve used. A balance of light and dark colors. So far, I quite like Red and blue. Although, red seems too obnoxious.
I don’t know what I’m doing.
and after much lounging around and thinking, I decided to buy some stuff.
